Sovereign AI
Xinity Has Moved Into AI Factory Austria
Xinity has a new home base. We now work from AI Factory Austria (AI:AT), Austria's national AI Factory in the EuroHPC network, and honestly, it would be hard to imagine a better address for a company whose entire mission is keeping AI infrastructure in European hands.
What AI Factory Austria Is
AI:AT is one of the AI Factories selected by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking to serve as a one-stop shop for AI in Austria. It connects companies, startups, public administration and researchers with European computing infrastructure, hands-on expertise, training, and a growing community of builders. A new AI-optimized supercomputer in Vienna is on the horizon.
For us, the appeal is simple. Everything AI:AT stands for, European compute, practical AI adoption, sovereignty by design, is what we build every day. Working from inside that ecosystem, surrounded by teams solving the same class of problems, sharpens the work.
Why Austria Is the Right Place to Build Sovereign AI
Austria punches far above its weight in AI and deep tech, and it has done so for decades.
The intellectual foundation is hard to overstate. Sepp Hochreiter, who co-invented the LSTM architecture that powered a generation of machine learning, leads the Institute for Machine Learning at JKU Linz and continues to push European model research forward with NXAI. When people say Europe contributed the fundamentals of modern AI, a meaningful part of that story was written in Austria.
The commercial track record backs it up. Dynatrace grew from Linz into a global observability leader. TTTech in Vienna builds the safety-critical platforms that let machines, from cars to factories, trust their own compute. Frequentis keeps air traffic communication running in over 150 countries from its Vienna headquarters. Anyline turned mobile data capture into a worldwide product. Mostly AI made Vienna a center for privacy-preserving synthetic data years before it was fashionable. And Blackshark.ai in Graz reconstructs the entire planet from satellite imagery.
That is the environment we get to work in. Companies here share a habit we recognize: build precise, reliable systems, own the hard technical layer, and let the results speak.
What This Means for Our Work
Nothing about our architecture changes. Xinity software still installs on your servers, your models still run inside your walls, and your data still never leaves your building. That is the point of sovereign by architecture, and no office move touches it.
What changes is proximity. Being at AI:AT puts us next to the companies, researchers and public sector teams deciding right now how they will run AI, and many of them are asking exactly the question we built Xinity to answer: how do we adopt AI without handing our data to a hyperscaler?
Our answer stays the same. Run open weight models locally, on infrastructure you own. Our core engine is open source, free forever, for every developer who wants to build without dependency.
Come Say Hello
If you are working from AI Factory Austria, or thinking about it, come find us. If you are anywhere near Vienna and want to see local inference running on real hardware, our Sovereign AI Lab meets monthly.
Austria gave modern AI some of its foundations. We think it can also lead in something the next decade will value even more: AI that companies actually own.
Made in Austria. Built for Europe.
